Tayla Young
Tayla Young is a Brisbane-based musician with a knack for storytelling and an admitted love of sharing her own.
Tayla grew up in Townsville listening to the likes of Paul Kelly, Colin Hay, the Waifs, and Missy Higgins.
Tayla’s admiration of Australian songwriters played a fundamental part in the development of her own craft, which is evident in her writing style.
Tayla describes her songwriting as a form of compensation for her tendency to overshare and admits to having accepted that when she writes, the rules of song structure will always come second to telling a story in its entirety.
Tayla is praised for her ability to write lyrics that are uncomplicated but rich with significance. It’s obvious that she chooses her words carefully.
Her endearing vocal delivery is gentle but strong, with a true North Queensland inflection.
